Pearl Handle

Pearl Handle

2009 Chardonnay Sonoma

It is said that the gun tamed the west. It is also said that the dainty little Derringer tamed the gambling tables. The mere thought that one of these genteel enforcers might be lying in wait—tucked neatly in a gentleman's vest pocket or in the garter of an attractive gambling house proprietress—tended to bring out the honesty in people. We pay homage to this exquisite instrument with our Pearl Handle Chardonnay.

  • 750 ML $40.00 Qty

The entry is concentrated with highlights of fruit, spice and toasty oak. The creaminess is matched with ample acidity creating a strong presence and persistence on the palate. The finish is long and has a sense of sweetness formed by the interaction of the fruit and oak flavors.

Spiced apple, pear, toasted coconut, creme fraiche, slight spearmint.

Sonoma County is one of the premier Chardonnay growing regions in the world, especially the sub-appellation of Russian River from which 42% of the grapes for the 2009 Pearl Handle originate. Sonoma is strongly influenced by maritime variations. Cool night and days that rarely get hot contribute to layers of oceanic fog that creep into Sonoma's interior valleys through numerous spots like the Petaluma Gap.

Hand harvested in the early morning / Whole cluster pressed / Champagne press program used for delicacy / 100% barrel fermented / 100% malolactic fermentation / 12 months in barrels, aged sur lie with bi-monthly batonnage.
